The straight drive from Darwin to Litchfield National Park takes around an hour and a half.&nbsp;

Most of Litchfield&#39;s popular swimming areas a croc-free. Many of the sites are closed in the wet season and inaccessible, which is when crocs can enter the area. However, after the wet season, the areas are all surveyed for crocodiles before reopening to visitors. It&#39;s important to only swim in designated areas and observe all warning signs throughout the park.

A trip to the Top End is not complete without croc-spotting or visiting the stunning Litchfield National Park, home to beautiful waterfalls and freshwater swimming pools that are perfect for cooling off from the Top End heat.

Your day begins with early morning pick-ups from selected Darwin accommodation. As you depart Darwin, your friendly local guide will provide&nbsp;commentary about local tourist attractions and historical points of interest.&nbsp;

The drive to the national park takes around 1 hr 30 mins; however, you&#39;ll enjoy a stop or two along the way. The first is Crocodylus Park, one of Darwin&#39;s premier wildlife parks.&nbsp;Learn more about unique Australian crocodiles as you cruise along a stunning artificial lagoon in a bushland setting and witness the natural jumping behaviour of these fantastic salt waters crocodiles led by a qualified guide.&nbsp;

The park is home to thousands of crocodiles, from cute little&nbsp;hatchlings to big snappy ones! The park also hosts some fuzzy friends too, including lions, meerkats,&nbsp;spider monkeys, marmosets, cassowaries and more.

&nbsp;

Continuing on, you&#39;ll&nbsp;wind your way to Litchfield National Park, where you&#39;ll get the chance to swim and cool off in blissful spring-fed waterfalls, join in a guided walk in the tropical monsoon vine forests and experience nature in its finest form.&nbsp;

&nbsp;

Take the opportunity to learn and experience ancient First Nation bush food and medicine passed down from their ancestors for thousands of years.&nbsp;Admire natural sandstone-formed landscapes and the unique birds and wildlife in their natural habitat.

&nbsp;

Throughout the day, you&#39;ll have a few choices. You can opt to do a self-guided walk from Buley Rockhole to Florence Falls, which takes around 20 mins or walk down the 135 steps to the plunge pool of Florence Falls.

&nbsp;

Then, at Wangi Falls, you can&nbsp;walk to the top&nbsp;and watch the water streaming down over sandstone cliffs, cool off into the large plunge pool, or relax in the picnic area and watch the cascade over the rock escarpments.

&nbsp;

Then,&nbsp;after a delicious lunch served at Tolmer Falls, follow the trail and head down to the top of the lookout to observe the spectacular view of the plunge waterfalls or walk around the top of the falls through an ancient cycad forest.&nbsp;

&nbsp;

At the end of the day, you&#39;ll transfer back to Darwin, with one final optional stop along the way at the&nbsp;Batchelor Butterfly &amp; Animal farm&nbsp;to learn more about some brilliant Australian butterflies and experience the wonderful petting zoo. Children especially enjoy feeding goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, pigs, donkeys, and cows.&nbsp;
