The tour is both undercover and in open air. It is recommended you wear a hat and long-sleeved sun shirt, with appropriate sun protection. Comfortable walking shoes are also recommended.

Everything you need for catch and release barramundi fishing is provided and included in the tour price. There will be a huge range of quality gear available, including a specialist selection of lures, with everything from hard bodied minnows to soft plastics, poppers and paddle tails. There is even a fly-fishing option for expert anglers.

Personal rods and tackle cannot be used because they create a bio-security risk to the entire farm. Treble hooks are not allowed and instead only single, barbless hooks to protect the fish from needless injury are used.

Nope but that’s why it’s called fishing and not catching! You likely will catch something, but you’ll have a good time even if you don’t. The vast majority of guests that visit the farm manage to land a fish.

The tour is operated at the Daintree Saltwater Barramundi Farm, which is Lot 3, Vixies Road, Wonga Beach, Queensland. This is about a 90 minute drive from Cairns, or about 30 minutes north of Port Douglas. You will need to self-drive or make their own way here, as there is no public transport or transfer service available at this time.
