This tour starts in Darwin at your selected accommodation where your guide will collect you on the morning of the first day. The tour then ends in the heart of Adelaide so everyone can easily make their way to their accommodation after the trip finishes.

This tour encourages community, so if you’re travelling solo, get ready to make friends quickly!

As a participation tour, everyone helps out by contributing to the cooking, cleaning, setting up camp, rolling out swags, collecting firewood, lighting the fire, and more. This helps everything run more efficiently, aids with group bonding, and allows you to enjoy an authentic bush camping experience.

This tour is best suited for travellers aged 20 and up. Children aged 10 years or older who are travelling with their parents are permitted on this tour. While we don’t have an upper age limit, all passengers must be capable of meeting the health and fitness requirements for this tour.

On this tour, you’ll venture off the beaten track into remote gorges, waterholes, and rock art sites. To do this, you will need to hike for several kilometres a day and occasionally swim and climb (swimming is not essential). You’ll be walking on well-trodden paths as well as rocky, dry creek beds and rough trails.

If you are generally healthy and can walk around 8 kilometres a day with ease, this tour is likely suitable for you.

We do not recommend pregnant people travel on this tour; this is due to the risks involved with hiking on uneven ground and the fact the roads are corrugated and bumpy which can affect unborn babies.

The food on this tour is fresh and passengers are often amazed at the meals they are able to enjoy in the bush. While the tour guides aren’t chefs, they are very capable of cooking up a great feed in a camp oven or on a BBQ plate.

The trailers have an 80-litre fridge and an 80-litre freezer so you can easily enjoy nutritious food in the outback.

Breakfast: Continental style with occasional cooked breakfasts*

*On day 1 of your tour, your guide will pick you up early and will begin driving straight away so please have breakfast before you board or pack a snack to eat on the truck.

Lunch: Varies from wraps, sandwiches, burgers, salads, cold meats, etc.

Dinner: Roasts, stir-fries, curries, stews, damper, etc.

Camp ovens, frying pans, BBQ plates, pots, etc. are stored on the truck, meaning you can cook almost anything.

This tour caters for vegetarians and gluten-free passengers. Other allergies are also catered for, although the tour guides are not specialists in these areas and ask that you provide some assistance when meals are being prepared to ensure you are correctly catered for.

Please inform us at the time of booking if you have any dietary requirements or allergies.

Australia requires all international travellers to hold a valid passport (with a minimum of 6 months validity).

We strongly recommend contacting your local embassy/consulate or seeing your travel agent for the most up-to-date visa requirements for Australia.

It is your own responsibility to have the correct travel documentation. Visa requirements for your trip will vary depending on where you are from and where you are going.

Yes, travel insurance is compulsory on this trip. The tour operator recommends purchasing travel insurance at the time of booking that covers you against tour cancellation, personal accident, death, medical expenses, emergency repatriation, COVID, loss/damage of personal items, and personal liability.

Every traveller is different and therefore spending money requirements will vary. Some travellers may drink more than others while others may like to purchase more souvenirs. Please consider your own spending habits when it comes to budgeting for drinks, shopping, and tipping.

All meals are included in this tour, except for breakfast on day one, so you won’t have to worry about budgeting for any food during this 13-day trip.

You’ll want to pack the following essential items for this tour:

  • Sleeping bag suitable for the conditions (-5 degree Celsius sleeping bag if travelling between May and September)
  • Comfortable, appropriate hiking shoes, boots, or strapped sandals with ankle support (whichever you feel most confident hiking in)
  • Thongs/your comfy breathable shoes for on the truck and around the campsites
  • Shoes you’re happy to get wet while walking through Tunnel Creek (thongs are fine)
  • Torch
  • Large water bottle (2 litre bottle or two 1 litre bottles)
  • Swimming gear
  • Towel
  • Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen (factor 50)
  • Suitable clothing to keep you cool and protect you from the sun
  • Insect repellent
  • Toiletries
  • iPod/MP3 (we can play your music on the truck)
  • Camera
  • Jumper and long pants (to keep you warm in the evening)
  • Cash for souvenirs
  • Small or inflatable pillow
  • Rain jacket (for tours running in May, September, October, and November)

Please bring no more than 20 kg of luggage as we have limited space on the truck. We also ask that your luggage has a soft casing e.g. a backpack. The weight limit does not include your sleeping bag or drinks.

This is a bush camping tour, meaning you’ll be staying in tents rather than hotels or hostels. You will be provided with a simple 2-person dome tent, which uses 2 poles. They are simple to construct and your guide will give you a demonstration of how to put the tent up properly.

Bush camping is all part of the adventure and the outback experience for this tour. Australia’s ancestors survived in the bush for many centuries by living off the land.

Sometimes you will be bush camping in areas without facilities such as toilets or showers. There are ways of dealing with this, which your guide will explain to you. One way to deal with not having a shower is by making the most of the swimming opportunities, which are available most days.

You can join our waitlist and we will get in touch if your preferred dates become available, or if we can provide you with alternative/similar options!
