A $50 refundable cash deposit or credit card pre-authorisation per canoe is required before your hire. This can be done either at Nitmiluk Canoe Shed (main Jetty) the morning of your hire or the day prior at any Nitmiluk Kiosk. Cash deposits will be refunded to you when you return your equipment damage free. Credit card pre-authorisation will be released after 7 days.

While you don't need any prior canoeing experience, a high fitness level is required. You will be required to carry canoes (18-26Kg) between gorges.

Please wear appropriate footwear and be aware of your surroundings all the time

Please allow 30 minutes driving time from the township of Katherine to get to Nitmiluk National Park. DO NOT go to Edith Falls. This is on the other side of the National Park and 1.5 hours driving time to the gorge.

Simply head down the Stuart Highway until you reach Katherine. Heading along Gorge Rd, Nitmiluk National Park is located 30mins out of Katherine. There is car parking available onsite. 

Nitmiluk National Park is a 3.5hr drive from Darwin.

Due to limited car parking at the boat ramp, we are encouraging guests to park at the visitor center car park and take a short 10-15 minute-walk to the boat jetty.
