It is advisable to wear comfortable clothing suitable for being active and, as you will be in the mountains or on the ocean, a wind proof top is a must. It is advisable to wear layers of clothing that can be added and/or removed.

The following is recommended:

Kaikoura is located in the prime position, between the ocean and the snow-capped Seaward Kaikoura mountains, along New Zealand&rsquo;s east coast.&nbsp;

Kaikoura is rich in Māori lore, and&nbsp;whaling heritage. The peninsula was the place where Maui braced his foot when he fished up the North Island and was named the seat of Te Waka O Maui &ndash; Maui&#39;s canoe.&nbsp;

The scenic drive along the coastline from Christchurch provides plenty of opportunity to spot&nbsp;fur seals and occasionally dolphins.&nbsp;A cafe lunch is included&nbsp;in the town of Kaikoura. 
 
The whale-watching tour from Kaikoura will take you on a&nbsp;cruise&nbsp;or the option for a flight, depending on weather conditions.&nbsp;

If time allows, you can experience some of the local boutique wines at a&nbsp;winery cellar door&nbsp;as you return to Christchurch.
