Frequently Asked Questions

Full training will be provided to ensure you are comfortable with operating a Quad. Our guides recognise that riding a quad bike for the first time can sometimes be a little nerve-racking.

16 years is the minimum age for riding a quad on the tour. This is the manufacturer's recommendation for riding the tour operator's type of bikes. If you are under 16 you can join the tour as a pillion passenger on one of the guides 2 seater bikes. (Minimum age for pillion riding is 12 years).  There is no upper age limit!

A combination of Can-Am & Honda quads. They are fully Automatic 4wd quads with 400cc engines

The tour operates on Queenstown hill station, a 3500-acre working sheep farm, with over 20kms of trails ranging from beginner level through to advanced technical riding. The majority of tours climb from our base 300 metres above sea level to the summit of Queenstown hill just under 1000 metres above sea level.

The area used is exposed to changing weather conditions. A tour will only be cancelled if all the trails are completely impassable or there is zero visibility. This is usually due to deep snowfalls and extremely rare.

Helmets, gloves, pants and jackets, gumboots and goggles are provided.

You may wear your own fully enclosed shoes. A hot drink and biscuits are provided, but it is recommend you bring your own water, especially in the summer months! Cameras are able to be taken on the tour and it is highly recommended you bring one!

Most medical conditions will not prevent you from taking part, But the tour operator asks that if your condition requires controlling medication that you bring it along in case of emergency as you will be in a semi-isolated environment and may have to wait for medical assistance. All guides are all first aid trained and have full procedures in place in case of an accident or emergency.

Quad biking is not recommended for expectant mothers

About 3 ½ hours round trip includes 2 – 2 ¼ hours on the bike and 20 minutes each way travelling to and from the base.

There is a strict drug and alcohol policy.

If the guide considers that you are unfit to ride a quad because you are still under the influence of either, the tour operator will be unable to take you on the tour. There may be no refund offered. This is for the safety of all riders on the tour. A valid credit card is required to be presented prior to the ride as security against wilful damage to the equipment.
