How do I get to Waiheke Island?

Waiheke Wine Tours LTD is located on Waiheke Island, so you must take a ferry from Auckland to reach the island and meet our tour guides. 

 

Island Direct to Matiatia Ferry Terminal

Island Direct Ferry is a newly launched service that allows seat pre-booking for a round trip

Your tour guide will be waiting for you at Pier 2 of the Matiatia ferry terminal on Waiheke Island, holding a welcome sign with your name on it.

 

Fullers Ferry to Matiatia Ferry Terminal

Fuller’s “Walk-Up” ferry departs from Auckland or Devonport terminals. You can buy a ticket at the ferry terminal, as there are machines there.

The recommended departure time for our shared tours is 10 am.

We suggest arriving at the Downtown Ferry Terminal on Quay Street at least 60 minutes before departure to ensure sufficient time to navigate the terminal and board your ferry to Waiheke Island.

If you are using the Fullers option, please keep in mind that queues can be long, and the ferries operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

The travel time from Auckland to Waiheke Island takes around 40-45 minutes, depending on whether the ferry stops at Devonport first.

If you arrive on an earlier ferry, there’s a café on the wharf where you can grab a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. Alternatively, you can take a short walk and return to the wharf area at the scheduled meeting time to meet your tour guide for the day.

Your tour guide will be waiting for you at Pier 2 of the Matiatia ferry terminal on Waiheke Island, holding a welcome sign with your name on it.

 

Sealink Ferries to Kennedy Point Ferry Terminal

The Sealink ferry departs from Half Moon Bay, approximately a 20-minute drive from the Auckland CBD. Although it is primarily a vehicle ferry, it also takes foot passengers. Prices can vary.

Sailings also depart from East Auckland and the Wynyard Quarter in Auckland City.

This service provides an alternative option for those travelling from the Eastern Suburbs or South of Auckland who do not wish to go all the way into Auckland CBD.

Please be advised our tours are r18 due to the nature of our tours and the New Zealand liquor licensing laws and you may be asked for ID if you look under 25 at any one of our vineyards. Make sure you have a photo ID such as a passport or driver’s license with you. If you have teenagers with you, of course, they cannot consume alcohol unless they are 18 and this is at our discretion, not yours. Our group tours with others are not suitable for Children. If you would like to bring your children you may but please book the private tour.
