This trip starts in Manila and ends in El Nido. At the start of your tour, your guide will meet you at the airport and take you to your joining hotel.
We recommend arriving in the Philippines on the same day your tour commences. There are no activities planned for the first day except the group welcome dinner at 7 pm, so you can arrive any time before then. Please contact us once you have booked your arrival flight into Manila so we can let your guide know when to meet you.
The majority of our group members are solo travellers, so joining one of our group tours is a great way to meet people and make friends. Before your trip starts we'll put you in touch with the rest of your group so you can start chatting and get to know each other. And after the trip, a lot of people continue travelling with the new friends they've made.
Tour groups usually have around 12-16 people in them, with ages typically ranging from 18 to early 40s. People from all over the world join these tours, so you’ll get to bond with a wide range of people who all share your passion for travel! As long as you have an appetite for adventure and are happy bonding with people of all backgrounds, you’ll fit in perfectly!
Rooming for this tour is organised on a twin-share basis. Solo travellers will be paired with another traveller of the same gender. There is also an optional single supplement (subject to availability) for travellers who prefer to have their own room.
The Philippines is an archipelago country, meaning there are some long travel days which include a couple of internal public flights, a public ferry, and private minibuses. As an archipelago country, this tour also involves a lot of water activities (some of which are slightly physical and weather-dependent), such as canyoneering, swimming, and snorkelling. As a result, you’ll be spending quite a bit of time on boats.
To ensure you can enjoy as many activities as possible, this tour does not run during monsoon season. However, the weather in the Philippines can be unpredictable at other times throughout the year, which may affect some of your tour’s scheduled activities.
All countries require a valid passport (with a minimum of 6 months validity). Visa requirements vary depending on your nationality, where you are travelling from, and the country you are travelling to. It’s your responsibility to check your visa and entry requirements for the Philippines well in advance of your departure date.
We cannot apply for your visa on your behalf. You should also note that visa requirements can change and some countries require you to apply for a visa before you travel. As such, we strongly recommend contacting your relevant embassy or consulate website for more information on the country you’ll be travelling to.
Yes, travel insurance is compulsory on this trip. You’ll need to show proof of your policy to your group leader upon arrival (on your phone or printed out).
We strongly recommend checking the levels of coverage on any travel insurance policy before purchasing it to make sure it covers you for all the activities that you’ll be doing on the Tour. Your insurance should also cover you for any pre-existing medical or mental health conditions that you may require assistance for while on tour.
All your activities, transport, accommodation, and some meals are included in the tour price, so you will mainly just need to budget for extra meals, drinks, shopping, and onward travel expenses.
Every traveller is different and therefore everyone’s spending money requirements will vary. Some travellers may drink more than others while other travellers like to purchase more souvenirs than most. Please consider your own spending habits when it comes to allowing for drinks, shopping and tipping.
You can have a plate of food for a street vendor for AU$3-$5, however there are always more expensive options. From a mid-range, sit-down restaurant, expect to pay AU$5-$20 - not including alcohol.
You can view a complete packing checklist on the Intro Travel App. iPhone users can download this application via Apple’s App Store. Alternatively, android users can download the app through Google Play.
Below is a list of equipment and documentation that we suggest taking with you. Please use this checklist as a guide when packing for your holiday:

Whether you’re travelling with a backpack or a suitcase, the main thing to keep in mind is not to bring too much stuff!
We strongly recommend that you pack no more than 20 kg of luggage for this trip. If you haven’t got a backpack yet, we recommend trying to get one that zips open along the side.
You'll also need a small overnight bag (we would recommend a dry bag/waterproof bag) for the 3-day boat expedition.
This is a backpacker-style trip made for adventurers who are happy to stay in nice, 2-3 star budget-style accommodation.
During the 3-day/2-night Boat Expedition from Coron to El Nido, you’ll be staying in two different remote island camps in basic, rustic-style Filipino Huts with mosquito nets. There is a limited power supply and no phone signal during this expedition, and you will also need to shower using buckets of water. It’s a memorable experience where you can immerse yourself in the local Filipino culture!
If you have dietary requirements and/or food allergies, please let the tour operator know either at the time of booking or before departure. To give you maximum flexibility with budgeting and deciding where, what, and with whom to eat, only some meals are included in the tour price.
While travelling on this tour, you'll experience a vast array of wonderful food and your group leader will be able to suggest different restaurants to try during your trip. As a rule, groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company.
